Stark VARG SM Sk Sköll Shatters 14 Year Track Record in Silence

If you’re not on the electric bandwagon yet, your need for speed may be itching after you hear what happened in Spain this month.
So What Happened?
Move over Red Bull.
Back in 2012, Red Bull brought two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz to the Terramar Racetrack in Spain to set a record for the fastest lap. On an Audi R8 LMS, Sainz broke the record held for almost 100 years with a 42.600-second time. Stark decided to bring their electric bike to Terramar and see if they could break the 14-year lap record.
What’s Terramar Racetrack?
If you haven’t heard of Terramar, or as it’s known, Autòdrom de Sitges-Terramar, it’s probably because you weren’t born in the year 1900. Way back in 1923, Autòdrom de Sitges-Terramar was built as the first permanent, purpose-built racetrack ever built in Spain, and one of the first in the world! It’s famous for its MASSIVE 60- 66-degree banked turns, which were among the steepest in the world. If you didn’t maintain your speed, you could slide right off the track! If you remember seeing Ricky Bobby run the Talladega banking, that’s the highest banking in NASCAR, and that’s 33 degrees!
After being built in under a year, the builders ran out of money, contractors went unpaid, and the circuit lasted only about a year before the track never hosted another major international Grand Prix race.
That was until Red Bull, and then Stark, in September of 2026.
Stark VARG SM Sköll
On September 10th, 2026, Swedish Supermoto champion Jonas Skovby was the brave soul to take the 66-degree embankment on a Stark VARG SM Sköll. There was no special customization or safety system in place. Jonas simply let it rip. The bike was right out of the box, in full ALPHA specification. The Stark VARG SM Sköll produces 80 hp and 914 Nm at the rear wheel, with a single-speed drive and a weight of 123.4 kg (272 lb). The single-speed drivetrain means NO gear switching, no interruption, just pure SPEED. It may not reach the top speeds of some bikes, but it gets GOING. It’s totally road-legal, with no clutch, no exhaust, and no gearbox.
The world-renowned urban street racer who broke the record had this to say about the experience of the Stark VARG SM Sköl on the Terramar.
“Slamming through a century-old track at 200 km/h means you are constantly on the edge, either about to be launched off a concrete wall or losing the front tire by a hair,” Skovby said. “With zero time to react or fix a mistake at those speeds, all I could do was completely trust the bike. It was an absolutely insane adrenaline rush and easily the wildest thing I have ever done.”
So, Did They Do it?
It wasn’t easy to get this thing off the ground. The track, though used 14 years ago, had been overtaken by Mother Nature for almost 100 years. To get some additional buzz around the event, Stark Future partnered on this joint project with Alpinestars and DC Shoes.
It took almost a year to get all the necessary permits and communicate with the owners of Terramar and local authorities.
The track itself has not been resurfaced since the 20s, old concrete that has absorbed over 100 years of weather.
The best lap, held by Alvert Divo, clocked an average of 96.91 mph back in 1923 at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Sainz lapped the oval in an Audi R8 in 2012 at 42.600 seconds.
Jonas Skovby on a Stark VARG SM Sköll, broke the record with a time of 41.888 seconds, which works out to an average of about 107MPH! WOW!
