Some Basic Ways You Can Customize Your Stark VARG’s Ride

Hey there, and welcome back to the Moto Z Shop Talk blog! We use this blog as a tool to help educate our fellow riders and gearheads on all things that go fast. Today on the blog, we’re highlighting the Stark Future line of electric dirt bikes and want to go over a few ways you can customize one. These things are so light, fun, and exciting to ride, and they have 2 street-legal versions you can bring out on the road now!

The VARG MX was the first, designed for dirt. The VARG EX is street-legal and allows you to ride on the street or trail, focused on off-road enduro style. The VARG SM (Supermoto) features a street-legal kit with a more supermoto ride, designed for kart tracks, twisty roads, and tight turns.

You can buy a VARG online, but we recommend meeting with a dealer to test out different models, ask questions, and get a good idea of what you REALLY want before you pull the trigger and order. We can help you with that! We love these bikes, and if you want to ride one, we can help! Get in touch with us to come check one out in person, we’re a dealer!

Now, let’s see what we can customize on these high-tech beauties.

Customizing Your Stark VARG Ride:

The Tires & Wheels

Firstly, when thinking about tires, Stark’s going to give you a few tire options on make and model. The options will vary based on which bike you’re looking at, so let’s summarize.

VARG EX

This is an enduro-style bike, but it’s still street legal. The VARG EX will give you Metzler 6 Days Extreme Medium tires as the base standard. You can add “X-Grip Medium mousse” to your tires for a bit more $. The next level is the Michelin Enduro 2, about $100 more, with the option to add X-Grip. The X-Grip Medium mousse is NOT for highway or high speed. This is a solid foam inner tube replacement designed for off-road bikes, to give you a flat-proof solution and consistent pressure. The other $100 upgrade tire option on the EX will be the Pirelli MT 21 Rallycross.

VARG MX

The Stark VARG MX “Motocross” version will only give two tire options, with both options having the ability to upgrade with the X-Grip medium mousse. Dunlop X34 comes standard, or you can upgrade to a Pirelli MX32 for just $50 or so.

VARG SM

Because the Stark VARG SM is a supermoto edition, you’re going to find a more street-style tire on it. The standard option is the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV. The other upgradable options are the Dunlop Sportsmart and Micheline Road 6, which will both run you about $50, or you can spend $100 to upgrade to the Anlas Grip Plus.

You can customize your wheels, too! You can find vendors out there who can create unique painted or anodised aluminium colored wheels to get you a look like no one else's!

We also offer a nice 18” assembly complete with a black anodized rim supplied by specialists Giant, and a Pirelli Scorpion tire with a cross-country tread pattern.

Stopping & Going

Your Brakes

Each model is going to give you an option to include a handbrake or just use a footbrake. Each model also states that regardless of which one you’re looking at, it’s important to remember that in the US and Canada, a foot rear brake is required to be road-legal.

Street Legal Rules

Both the street-legal versions, the VARG EX and VARG SM, are delivered with a foot rear brake and a separate hand rear master cylinder and brake line for racing use only. Alternatively, you can remove the hand rear master cylinder. Either option won’t affect price.

We also have some unique conversion kits available here at Moto Z, you won’t find anywhere else!

The VARG MX version

The Motocross version, the VARG MX, comes with just the option of handbrake or footbrake only, though if you remove the handbrake, it will increase the price by about $300.

The POWER

Each Stark VARG bike will give you the option to go with 60HP or 80HP. The price difference isn’t too crazy, at a $1000 difference between the standard 60hp, or going up to the full capacity 80hp. Let’s look at some of the main differences in the choice, because it is important.

The 80hp version will offer superior acceleration, but is probably better for an experienced rider. If you’re planning on using the VARG on dirt, you’re probably fine with the 60hp version, as even 50-60hp can be tough to fully open up on dirt. That said, if you are experienced or you’re looking for something on the open track or suited for Supermoto, you should go with the 80hp.

The 80hp model is associated with the “Alpha” spec, which some riders note can create slight differences in battery usage depending on how aggressively you’re using the extra power. The 80hp is going to give you more acceleration and peak power, but the 60hp will give you a smoother experience at startup.

What’s crazy about the option is is isn’t a mechanical upgrade, you don’t need to go up to 80 at purchase. It’s actually just a software unlocking of the motor. You can upgrade a 60hp version to an 80hp later if you so choose!

We’re going to be talking a lot more about the Stark VARG series of bikes because they’re just so amazing, and of course, because we’re trying to sell them here in WNY!
